What is new in Lost Monsters, newest first.

Puzzle guides, and a site around the game

Lost Monsters now has a few pages to read besides the game. The new puzzle guides take six boards, two per difficulty, and explain the trick behind each one with a picture of every move of the best solution. The About page tells where the game comes from and how the difficulty of its puzzles is decided, and this page lists what changes. Every page now has the same menu at the top and links at the bottom.

In the game, Settings now shows the version you are playing at the bottom. If you keep the game open in a tab and a newer version comes out, a small red dot appears on Settings and an Update button next to the version gets you the new one with one click.

A friendlier fourth tutorial board

The last board of the tutorial needs two helpers in a row, and many new players got stuck on it. Its tip now comes in three small steps, the tutorial points at the next move when someone has been stuck for a while, and sliding past the exit gets a "So close!" instead of silence. The board itself is also drawn faster, which makes the game smoother on older phones and computers. And when you finish the tutorial, your first real puzzle now starts right away, and its win screen explains what the stars and the crown mean and how to unlock Medium.

Wide screens, six languages and a shorter tutorial

Share the game

A Share button on the menu, in the win dialog and at the end of the tutorial sends lost-monsters.com to a friend: through your phone's share sheet, or as a copied link on a computer. The address now also shows during play, for everyone who plays inside an app without an address bar.

Fairer difficulty levels

Every challenge was played by four simulated players of different skill, and the Easy, Medium and Difficult levels were drawn again from how often each of them solved it well. Some short puzzles that need a clever first move moved up to Difficult, so Easy is now really easy. How it works.

Also new: the How to play page with the rules and common questions, and a hopping green monster while a board loads on a slow connection.

Lost Monsters is online

The browser version of Lost Monsters went live at lost-monsters.com: all 3,927 challenges of the original mobile game, its cave, monsters, music and sounds, in any browser. With a tutorial, Undo and Restart, statistics, up to five stars per board and a replay of the best solution after every win. A mute button sits in the corner, and monsters are easier to pick on a small screen.
